SK-Youth Summer Camp 2008 Held By: Aprils Fe L. Serrano, Baao Community eCenter April 21, 2008 School day is over. Summer vacation is on. To complement the celebration of Earth Month, the Local Government Unit of Baao thru the Sangguniang Kabataan Federation headed by Hon. Nel Francis B. Buena, DOLE – Working Youth Council, and Baao Youth Development Council sponsored its 1st SK-Youth Summer Camp held at D.A. Training Center, Pecuaria, Bula, Camarines Sur last April 16-18, 2008. The said 3-day camping was participated by over 700 youth coming from the 30 barangays of Baao particularly the SK officials. Aside from the usual annual summer sports fest, the local government aims to expose our youth to a more exciting social gathering not just to have fun and meet new friends but above all for them to learn new things which are not actually taught in school. The organizer has invited various speakers of their own expertise to share with the participants how to enhance Personal Development, Personal and Dental Hygiene, Spiritual Growth and Value Formation, and Healthy Lifestyle. It also catered workshop and skills training, leadership training, sports, culture, arts, and music, planning and budgeting, and inputs in Preserving Mother Earth. Most importantly, our youth got the chance to re-discover the origin and History of Baao thru the effort of our local historian, Prof. Paulix B. Robosa. Among those who came to grace the Summer Youth Camp was Hon. Dino Imperial Badilla, National Youth Commissioner. And with special participation of no less than the pride of Baao, Ms. Beatriz Imperial Saw, Pinoy Big Brother Season 2 Grand Winner. Serrano, Baao Community eCenter February 20, 2008 Unemployment has been a timeless problem in our community and just to give a little hope to the aspiring applicants, once again the Local Government Unit of Baao, Camarines Sur sponsors Jobs Fair and at the same time Mobile Passport Processing open to all Baaoeños and other neighboring towns in the Rinconada Area. The said activity which is co-sponsored by the Rotary Club of Iriga City in coordination with the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) and the Philippine Overseas Employment Agency (POEA) will be happening on February 28-29, 2008 at the Baao Covered Court. As of press time, there are at least 10 participating agencies for the local employment and another 10 agencies for the overseas employment. List of participating agencies and possible job offers will be posted in the vicinities of the municipality.
Winners on the 1st Hans Bongcayao Inter-town Basketball Tournament Bared By Aprils Fe L. Serrano, Baao Community eCenter February 17, 2008 To promote sportsmanship and camaraderie among the basketball enthusiasts in the Rinconada area, Mr. Voltaire Hans N. Bongcayao, despite his very busy schedule back home in Cagayan, managed to sponsor the 1st Hans Bongcayao Rinconada Inter-town Basketball Tournament which was officially launched last October 6, 2007 at the Baao Covered Court. With an entry of seven competing teams coming from the municipalities of Baao, Bato, Balatan, Buhi, Bula, Nabua, and from the City of Iriga, the said mobile tournament were done during Saturdays only at the participating team’s home court, one after the other. Finally, the real champions emerged as the most awaited Championship Games was concluded last February 16, 2008 at the Baao Covered Court. Iriga City (Pade-Pade) clinched the tilt besting Bula Team with a final score of 107-82. Awarding ceremony immediately followed with these final standing and corresponding cash prizes plus trophy: Winner-Iriga City, Php30,000.00; 1st Runner-Up Bula,Php20,000.00; 2nd Runner-up Bato, Php10,000.00; and 3rd Runner-Up Baao, P5,000.00. Vice-Governor Sal Fortuno, Board Member Rex Oliva, Mayor Benjamin Decena of LGU- Bula, and our very own Mayor Jun Bongcayao together with his first family Dr. Lulu, Hans, Victor and Francis Bongcayao officiated the awarding or cash prizes, trophies, and plaque of appreciation. To promote sportsmanship and camaraderie among the basketball enthusiasts in the Rinconada area, Mr. Voltaire Hans N.
